How does it work?

Typically sessions involve participants logging on to a Fourth R computer where the trainer is able to interact with them directly. The required visuals are viewed by both parties for the session. A physical manual is provide to the client prior to establishing a session. There will also be an audio facility provided by a separate audio bridge such as a telephone conference facility.

Microsoft Office - Access
   
 

This month we take a look at five tips and tricks that you can use with Microsoft Access.

Tip 1 - Export to Excel

Step 1: Select a Table or Query to export.
Step 2: Click on the Excel button in the Export group of the External Data tab.
Step 3: Follow the steps through the Export - Excel Spreadsheet dialog box.
Step 4: Open the Excel file.

Tip 2 - Password protect a database

Protect your database from unnecessary access.

Step 1: Open a database.
Step 2: Select File, Info, Encrypt with Password.
Step 3: Type in required passwords.
Step 4: Close the database and reopen it.
Step 5: Enter in the required password.

Tip 3 - Compact and Repair a database

The compact and repair function can be used to fix minor issues and save space in a database whereby a lot of amendments have been made.

Step 1: Select File, Info, Compact and Repair Database.

Tip 4 - Use a company logo for the applications icon

An image (e.g. company logo) can be used instead of the standard access application icon that sits in the top left corner of a database.

Step 1: Select File, Options, Current Database.
Step 2: In the Application Icon box, browse for an .ico file to replace the Access symbol in the top left corner of the database window.
Step 3: Click Ok twice.

Tip 5 - Save a database in an older format

You may have a need to save a database in older format to get access to features that are now long gone. For example MDB files included several features such as replica, switchboard managers and User Level Security Wizards.

Step 1: Select File, Save & Publish.
Step 2: Click on Access 2002 - 2003 Database (*.mdb).
Step 3: Click on Save As.
Step 4: Name the file and press Ok.
